Greetings -
We are in the process of rolling out a new virtualized SQL 2014 server to be used as an IT/infrastructure DB server. The two apps that will use the server are SharePoint 2013 and Websense (web filtering and reporting). Ideally we'd have a dedicated SQL server for SharePoint, but we're a small organization (roughly 525 users) and budgets are tight. I would be surprised if more than 1/4 of our users would be using SharePoint concurrently.
Given that, and considering SharePoint 2013 requires MAXDOP to be set to '1', does it make sense to install a named instance for SharePoint? Websense databases just contain logging information; the reporting is handled in Websense itself.
Thank you for your help.
Carl
