I installed on Windows 10. All was well, but I installed SQL Server 2016 Enterprise. Enterprise has no local database though, so I tried to "upgrade" my Enterprise edition to aDeveloper Edition installation. When I tried to run the Dev Edition installer to upgrade though, I received a "nothing error" like so:
"There are validation errors on this page. Click OK to close this dialog box. Review errors at the bottom of the setup page, then provide valid parameters or click help for more information."
The "Errors at the bottom of the setup page" read:
"There are no features selected for upgrade", but the installer never gave me any options other than "shared features" and "redistributable features", both greyed out.
I even received this same error when I was using free version upgrade paths so that was not the problem. Also, it passed all of theupgrade rule checks with flying colors. It just all comes to a grinding halt at thefeature selection dialog.
I can't repair them, I can't upgrade them, and I can't get rid of them either. I would be happy to rip them out of the registry....provided I know which keys are the offenders. I am also not the least bit afraid of the command line, but again I would need to know the relevant modules.
There are several guides to uninstalling SQL Server 2016, but they are all forWindows Server, which I do not have. Those command line modules do not work inWin10 :'(
Does anyone know of a manual uninstall guide for SQL Server 2016 on top of Windows 10? That is really all I need.
