All I need are manual uninstallation instructions for SQL Server 2016 running on Windows 10! If someone can link me to them, I would be forever grateful! I just need the registry keys& any services that are not obviously SQL Server components.
If you want to know why, read on...
I installed SQL Server 2016 Express with Advanced Services. At the end of the install, my building lost power, corrupting the install. I also installed SQL Server 2016 Standard hoping to replace the corrupted install (not realizing there is no localDB in Standard edition).
When I then tried to upgrade the Express Advanced to Developer, I was greeted by this nasty looking uber-ambiguous error message:
This was a legitimate upgrade path but obviously something went very wrong. All attempts to repair the installation fail (with similarly ambiguous errors). I am really stuck here. Short of combing through the install logs, I am out of options. It seems that no one at Microsoft ever imagined SQL Server installed on a Windows 10 machine having any troubles. I can find no documentation on manual removal on any version short of Windows Server.
In addition to the SQL Server Express, somehow the install of SQL Standard was affected & that also refuses to uninstall.
Thanks in advance!
