I'm getting a 500 page when I try to access the link that was sent to me to download SQL 2014 CU 6:

http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/SQL%20Server%202014/nosp/SQLServer2014_RTM_CU6_3031047_12_0_2480_/12.0.2480.0/free/482290_intl_x64_zip.exe

Please help!

Are there any pre-requisites or components required on SQL (e.g. .Net) in order to be able to run the Upgrade Tool

we are facing challenges running the upgrade tool on a SQL server, despite it running well on all other servers. We had a scenario where .net wasn't installed and after installing it did run well.

To help us troubleshoot the final box, is there a list of pre-requisites or components that need to be installed for the tool to run?

long running windows update

I am trying to run Windows Update for  " Security Update for SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 2 (KB3045313) ".

The update has gotten as far as the message  " Installing updates ...  ".

Another message reads " Installing update 1 of 1 ... ".

I got these messages on Friday 07-17-2015 around 10 PM.   It is now Sunday 07-19-2015 around 1:30 AM.

The update function has been running more than 27 hours.

Is this a normal amount of time for this update  or  am I wasting time waiting for this update to end ???

If I am wasting time, can anyone tell me how to get this update to run correctly ??

SQL Server 2012 Error

SQL Server Management Studio fails to load with the error message "Microsoft Visual Studio Isolated Shell Environment." "Cannot find one or more components.  Please reinstall the application."

This started happening after I tried to install the "Beta" of Visual Studio 11.  That installation failed during install.  I have removed all of the artifacts that I can find from that installation and I have completely removed SQL Server 2012 and reinstalled multiple times in different ways.  All other features seem to work.

Any idea's on which file I messed up by trying to install the beta?

Hi

My SQL Server has one MDF file and  3 NDF file - all almost 100 GB/file. It's leads the disk space almost fill.

I want equal distributed - splitting the MDF and NDF file to 10 or 15 files. So it will solve my space issue.

Overlapped I/O error 997 installing SQL Server 2014 Express on Windows Server 2012 R2

I'm attempting to install SQL Server 2014 Express on a Windows Server 2012 R2 system. When I do the install, it fails (several times) with an "Error: 997. Overlapped I/O operation is in progress.". From searching the web, I can see many people have had this problem with this installer and other non-SQL server installers.

I've tried every solution I can find discussed, but none help with my problems The system is fully updated, with the exception of the KB2538243 (VC 2008 SP1 redist), which is probably failing for the same reason.

I've tried removing several updates mentioned in other articles (KB2918614). I've confirmed that I'm not using a temporary profile.

Does anyone have an idea of how I can solve this issue?

Thanks,

Zack

Lizensierung v. SQL 2012 Standard (Cluster) v. Evaluation aus MSDN

Hallo,

ALex

SQL Server 2012 installed to Windows Server 2008 R2

It would appear that SQL Server has installed except for the DataBase Engine. Isn't that the reason for even having SQL Server?

I have downloaded the ISO file numerous times, I have burned numerous DVD's I have used different DVD players to do the install, I have copied the contents to the desk top.  I still cannot get an accurate install of SQL Server 2012 onto Windows Server 2008 R2.  SQL Server 2008 R2 is also installed and working just fine.

I am getting the error stating that a CAB file is either missing or corrupt.

I am up against building a second Server Computer to make this work.

Anyone have any Ideas?

I am also trying to install SQL Server Developers Addition 2012 to Windows 7 computer and run into the same problems.  The Windows 7 computer is a complete fresh install with Office 2013, WorkPerfect Office x7, and Adobe installed.  doesn't get much cleaner than that and SQL Server Developer does not install.

What gives?????

White space error when repairing SQL Server 2014 to install MS SQL Report

Basically we need the reports server to be running on our SQL server for an upgrade to a piece of new software we want to use and its database. We haven't used MS SQL report before as we have not required it.

When we run repair it gets to the end and give us this error message: 'Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection.Parameter name: index'

Any help would be much appreciated,

Thank you.

Good Morning,

Having some issues installing sql server 2014 enterprise on a Windows Server 2012 R2 x64 cluster. I am running the setup as an administrator, setup and point all the settings to a cluster shared volume.  I am a local admin on the server, OU admin on the Active Directory domain to the server object location.  Running the install as the OU admin account which is also an administrator on the machine.  However, near the end of the installation i get the following error message:

Slip-Stream a QFE

Hi All

We are currently using SQL Server 2008 SP4. I had slip streamed it and we use it to build new instances.

Now that the latest security patch has released (MS15-058), we are planning to install the patch QFE version.

I am not sure how to slip-stream it. Its not a CU. So what should be the folder name be where I will store the binaries of QFE patch.

Has anyone done this before? Please help if you can.

SQL Server Configuration Manager error

I am getting the error: "Cannot connect to WMI provider. You do not have permission or the server is unreachable."

I tried the solution posted on the Microsoft support page involving a command prompt and themofcomp "%programfiles(x86)%\Microsoft SQL Server\<var class="sbody-var">number</var>\Shared\sqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof"

This still does not fix the problem, the result of running the above is:

Parsing MOF file: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\110\Shared\sqlmgmp
roviderxpsp2up.mof
MOF file has been successfully parsed
Storing data in the repository...
An error occurred while processing item 1 defined on lines 4 - 7 in file C:\Prog
ram Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Shared\sqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof:
Error Number: 0x80041003, Facility: WMI
Description: Access denied
Compiler returned error 0x80041003

Is there way to completely re-install the Configuration Manager? One post suggested the Access denied was Administrator rights but I have full Administrative rights to everything so I don't see that being the problem. The command prompt is not working, what other solution can you suggest?

I am trying to enable FILESTREAM on a SQL 2012 installation that is supporting a Sharepoint 2013 implementation. When I try to enable FILESTREAM using the SQL Server Configuration Manager I receive the following error:

There was an unknown error applying the FILESTREAM settings.

Check the parameters are valid. (0x80041008)

I have done this succussfully in the past in SQL2008R2/Sharepoin2010 environment but this is my first attempt with SQL2012/Sharepoint2013 and I am not sure how to proceed with troubleshooting.

Dear Forum Mates,

We are going to upgrade our production environment from Windows 2003.

So, we have a question about SQL server 2005 compatibility for Windows 2008 R2 / Windows 2012.

Can you confirm SQL server 2005 compatible for Windows 2008 R2 / Windows 2012?

Thanks in advance...

SQL 2008 R2 setup UI (setuparp.exe) has incomplete list of installed features - can't uninstall RS

We're doing upgrades from SQL 2008 R2 to SQL 2014. This is blocked due to RS is installed but not configured. Our desired action is to uninstall RS and proceed with the upgrade. But when setuparp.exe is raised, it does not list all the features on the 'Select Features' page.  In fact, it only lists the last 2 shared features (SQ Client Connectivity SDK and Microsoft Sync Framework). However, all items appear to be listed on the 'Select Instance' page including RS. I've seen this issue on 2 of our SQL 2008 R2 Servers already.
