SSDT-BI templates in VS 2012 are non-existant even after update with march 2014 software update.

I have tried absolutely every suggestion and update that has been posted on the net, msdn, Microsoft, etc.. I finally completely removed VS 2012 ultimate with uninstall/ force/ and did the same with SQL Server 2012 . I went step by step and reinstalled SQL Server 2012 first, updateing and rebooting between each install, then re-installed VS 2012 ultimate, and then UPDATE 4. Then installed the march 2014 SSDT-BI update, then installed the latest Sql Data tools update.

I absolutely cannot get the templates to show up in VS 2012 new project. WHAT HAVE I MISSED!!! It seems that everyone else is doing fine with the latest updates, but me.

What else can I do... I REALLY NEED to DO SSIS project in VS2012. Someone please be my angel and help me.

thanks,

sma

Cannot create database object alert on clustered instance

Hello,

We have installed 2014 sql server on a stand alone VM and can create alerts without issue.  We recently did a cluster install of 2014, and when trying to create alerts get the following error:

Msg 14262, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_verify_performance_condition, Line 52

The specified object_name ('Databases') does not exist.

Specifically, we are trying to create a database alert on percent log used that will kick off a job to back up the log.

We are on Windows 2012R2 o/s.  In the drop downs in SSMS under alerts, we do not have all the options we have in the stand alone instance - they are not there.  Is this a bug?  Is there a CU?

How to license SQL Server Dev/Test/Staging?

$

We have a few questions about SQL Server license requirements in Dev/Testing/Staging environments, I understand we better confirm with MS but so far have not got hold of anyone of MS Rep, appreciate if someone can shed some light on this?

1. If we buy SQL Server Developer Edition license for every developer, can we install SQL Server Enterprise/Standard version for Dev/Test/Staging purpose? or we only allow to install Developer edition?

2. Does tester need to have SQL Server Developer License to do function and performance testing?

3. If we buy a few MSDN subsciption for some developers, also buy SQL Server Developer Edition license for rest of our developers.  Then can we install SQL Server Enterprise/Standard version for every developer? or can we install Developer version for every developer?

4. Is there any organization level license so we don't need to buy MSDN Subscription or Developer Edition license for every developer/tester on per user basis?

Does SQL Server 2012 Standard Edn support OLAP Cube Development?

$

Currently I have a number of sites that are using the OLAP Cubes on a SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition.  I am currently setting up a new site with the same OLAP cubes, but I have been told that SQL 2008 can no longer be purchased.  I have not tested the SQL 2012 version yet and am unsure if the SQL 2012 Standard version supports the analysis services or do I have to purchase the Business Intelligence Edition for typical Analysis Service&BIDS?

I have been told that If you purchase a Volume License SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition, then it you should be able to download the SQL 2008 R2 version as a downgradable option from VSLC, can anyone confirm this?

Any help would be appreciated, as I have read the edition breakdown of the SQL 2012 Standard and it mentions "Reporting and Analytics", it is not clear whether it supports the typical BIDS and OLAP cube deployment.

MS SQL sever 2012 setup: no mapping between account names and security ADs was done.

Our software vendor rep is trying to upgrade MS SQL server 2008 SP4 to 2012 SP1. Get an error message: no mapping between account names and security ADs was done. He says that we get this error message because we have two domain controllers in our network, and one is running on the same windows server that run sql server. Out IT support disagrees to delete the second domain controller, saying it is recommended by Microsoft and he suggests that the problem is in Active directory. Who is right? What could be a resolution for our problem?

Friends,

I have to provide estimated total hour required to migrate some 70 SQL Server 2005 with 1500 databases and 13 TB of data to SQL 2008 R2. It includes Prod, Test and Dev environment. I haven't worked with such big migration project. Could anyone please provide me any standard of such timing so that I can customize according to the complexity of my environment?

Currently running Win 10 but I suspect the same or a similar thing happened with Win 7.

If I look at "Local Services" it says WMI is running.    I can stop and restart it.  If I try to install ANY version of SQL SERVER the Requirements list says "WMI Failed.  Any Suggestions appreciated.

Hello,

I tried to install SQL SERVER 2014 on my Windows 7 machine. I have the Enterprise version.

However, I was stuck with an issue, see message below:

TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Setup
------------------------------

The following error has occurred:

The installer has encountered an unexpected error. The error code is 2337. Could not close file: Microsoft.SqlServer.WizardFrameworkLite.dll GetLastError: 0.

Click 'Retry' to retry the failed action, or click 'Cancel' to cancel this action and continue setup.

This is a fresh install. Before SQL SERVER, I installed Visual Studio 2015. Of course, all necessary updates have been applied.

Please advice.

Thanks.

Questions about Connections

My company, American Breast Care, is interested in purchasing the SQL Server 2014 and have a couple questions.
1. When you install the server, is it put on one computer and all other computers connect through Wi-Fi or do all computers download the server?
2. What will happen to the server connection if the Wi-Fi goes out?
3. If the answer to #1 is that the server is it on one computer, what will happen if the computer crashes?

Blue Screen error 0xc0000034

My husband has an Acer Aspire Ultraslim M5-481PT with Windows 8.1 Op System.  One day he turned it on and got a blue screen that says:

RECOVERY

Your PC needs to be repaired.

The Boot Configuration Data file is missing some required information.

File:\BCD

Error code: 0xc0000034

You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media.  If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device) contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer.

I contacted Acer and purchased a set of recovery discs which I received today.  The instructions say to put in the System Disc, reboot, and press F12 when the splash screen first appears to bring up the boot menu.  When I do this, I can hear the disc being read and can tell the hard drive is spinning.  It goes directly back to the blue screen with the message above, though.  I cannot boot anything as I cannot get to the boot menu.  Then it turns itself off.

Any suggestions?  And thank you.

Upgrade SQL 2008 Management Studio to SQL 2014 Management Studio?

$

Hello is it true that you can't upgrade SQL 2008 Management Studio (only) to 2014 in that SQL 2014 Management Studio will be installed side by side? If yes is it simply running SQL 2014 setup and step through & select only Management Studio components (will the destination path need to be changed?) or something else?

Thanks in advance.

Database Diagram Creation Error

Hi Scholars,

When I'm trying to create a database diagram for my tables., First it prompts me saying that - "This database does not have one or more of the supported objects... Do you wish to create them? I know this is normal when you don't have any diagrams. But after clicking "Yes", I get the following error which is attached.

I tried changing the database Owner to "sa". But, still the same error. Interestingly, other databases that are already having the database diagrams (created by others), are allowing me to create new diagrams in those databases.

The only difference is, I created this database where I'm trying to create diagrams on.

Please suggest me how do I get this working.

Thanks in advance

Dear MS,

I'm a developer, I installed SQL Server 2008 in Windows 7 locally. Then, my Ms SQL Server 2008 cannot connect or repair or uninstall after upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10.

Before Upgrading, the Windows 10 advisor didn't warning me about this.

After upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10:

- When I use SQL Server Management Studio to connect to SQL server, this app is halted with "not response".

- After that, I do repair and uninstall SQL Server 2008, both are halted in this windows belowed:

I searched in MSDN and knew that SQL server is not supported for Windows 10. So, How could I solve this trouble to remove SQL Server 2008 completely?

Thanks for all.
