I can not get SQL R successfully installed.  I have tried both offline and onne installation attempts.  I have patched to CU2 but that has not helped.

I have two instances / Servers 

1. SQL Server 2012 - Ent. Edt

2. SQL Server 2016 - Ent. Edt

I have got an requirement that i would need to implement the sql database level encryption technique. where by the Database sizes varies from 10 GB to 300 GB , around 10 DB's i have in total to be encrypted, but where as in total each instance has got 50 DB's . 

Can you please help me to adopt that , it would be great if some one of you can share your expert advise to configure the same. 

as well few questions i have is 

1. IF the DB is encrypted, though i am a DBA , i might not be allowed to view the data in the DB unless i have that encrypted key ? am i true or if i am wrong , can you please guide me . 

2. as well, if the application which has got read access or write access , which is talking to that encrypted DB , can able to se the data or pull the values from the DB as it was before encryption . 

3. If the DB is encrypted and the key is with my friend and i dont know the same, but i have SA privilage , where in can i have full privilage to view the Data , though the DB is encrypted. 

Please share me if you have any URLs to understand the basics

Can some one help me to identify , the reason why the SQL DB is ( user DB) is going to Recovery mode daily in the morning hours in between 7 AM to 11 AM , any time in between . 

I dont have exact clue on the reason behind , but request your help to point out why & the action point to be taken to prevent it.

few points 

1. sql server is an 2008 std 64 Bit

2. have enough disk space on the user DB where their mdf, ldf files are stored.

3. perform full backup daily in the midnight around 12 AM  and perform tlog backups every 30 mins .

I am trying to apply patch upgrade to SQL 2014 Enterprise edition(12.0.2000.8). But check boxes are disabled where we select SQL Instance to upgrade. Error states:

I noticed there is bug while Configuring New Availability Group, the last listener Tab never contain adding button for new IP address  if its Static IP option .

For sure separately I am able  to configure Listener successfully after configuring AG earlier.

This strange behavior started recently. If I close SSMS, it restarts itself as if it crashed and trying to restore itself. Even if I hit cancel as it's restarting, it will restart itself yet again. This happens twice. Any idea what's causing this?

I have established Encryption on my user DB's ( total of 7 ) in sql server 2016 ent edition.

I have confirmed that it is encrypted by using " Select Name, IS_ENcrypted  From Sys_databases;"  i can see few Db's as 0 , so i am trying to encrypting again, 

in that process, after creating certificate , when i try to on encryption by

 Alter Database DBNAMe  set encryption on. then i end up with below error .

This command requires a database encryption scan on database 'RDW'. However, the database has changes from previous encryption scans that are pending log backup. Take a log backup and retry the command.

I am trying to update several installs of SQL 2008 Express from RTM to SP4. I am using SCCM to run a cmd file to do this upgrade.

The cmd reads

I've successfully installed SQL Server 2016 Developer Edition, all except for the additional R Services [In-Database]. Since I am installing on a machine that is disconnected from the internet, I have downloaded the necessary CAB files from go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=735051 (SRS_8.0.3.0_1033.cab) and LinkId=761266 (SRO_3.2.2.0_1033.cab) and put them in the same directory (C:\Users\Chris\Downloads). When I try to install R Services, though, I browse to the Install Path and the "Next >" button is still grayed out. I've tried multiple different folders as well, all with the same result. Is there some way I can find out what's wrong, or is it just a broken part of the install process?

Is there a method to automate the changing of a service accounts for an installed SQL 2012 instance (default) and assigning the correct permissions to all locations without performing a complete uninstall and reinstall. 

I had someone setup a new SQL instance and they accepted all the default accounts for the services.  For a security best practice each service should be its own domain user account and should follow least privileges so i do not want to make it a local admin on the box.  

I have found a link online that states what each service requires access to:

However manually setting this up on all accounts would take quite a while.  I am hoping there is some wizard where I can provided the new user accounts for each service like when you first install the SQL instance and have it assign permissions automatically. 

The install has to be on the default instance and a complete uninstall / reinstall will cause issues so i am trying to avoid that.

I have a Microsoft Server 2008R2 x64 fully updated. I have installed SQL Server 2005 SP1 version 9.0.1399 which is the base install. I'm trying to update to SP3 but receive the below errors when trying to run the accumulative update. I have looked around and haven't found anything recent pertaining to this. Probably because I'm the only one trying to update SQL 2005... This is a legacy project and would appreciate any help. Links I have already looked at that haven't helped are below. I also provided a section for more information related to the exact issue I'm having.

-I would love to install the prerequisite update 4035 but I'm unable to find a usable link... Please Help!

Currently we are using SQL 2014 Enterprise SP1 CU6 version of 12.0.4449.0 it's working well there is no issues but we would like to update from this SP1 to Sp2 ( Cu2 12.0.5522.0) latest version .. Please let we know what are the procedure are we want to followup
