We're setting up 3-servers, running on WINDOWS SERVER 2012. 2 servers clustered and the 3rd will act as a storage.
we've already setup everything. The problem is whenever we install the SQL12 when its almost about to finish this error message pops up:
"THE FOLLOWING ERROR HAS OCCURRED WAIT ON THE DATABASE ENGINE RECOVERY HANDLE FAILED."
We've tried several times to reset-up everything. But we still end up with the same error message. - Could you please help.

Where can I get a product key from MSDN subscription for SQL Server 2012 edition upgrade?

Hi,

We have a Bizpark MSDN subscription and when we started a new project we installed SQL Server instances on 3 different machines as Evaluation edition as we were unsure of which edition we would need. Now we have decided to upgrade to Business Intelligence edition but we actually do not have any product keys because the MSDN subcription only provides an ISO with a pre-registered key.

So where can I find a product key to upgrade the SQL Server 2012 edition?

Thank you.

SQL Server 2012 Media by Edition and Licensing?

$

Hi,

I'm setting up a network install with the SQL Server 2012 media.  With past versions, I maintain media by edition and version.  In looking at the download page on the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center, I see SQL 2012 by edition and licensing model (core or server/cal).  We use server/cal internally and core for stuff linked to the public web sites.  Is the media actually different?  Also, do I still need to maintain separate media by edition?

Can I use one version of the media and provide PID that will determine the edition and license model?  I use a commandline setup, so it would be easy for me to provide the PID.  We are mostly DEV and STD on the server/cal model.  ENT and core are more rare for us.

Thanks

Please advise.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Installing SQL 2008 r2 sp2 remotely unattended/silent through WMI

For some reason there is a difference between the WMI call I am making remotely (win32_process create metod with identity impersonate) and executing it as that same user while logged in. I ran the WMI command with just a whoami and it shows up as the administrator account I expect it to run as. When I copy and paste this cmd into a command prompt and execute it works fine logged in as the administrator account.

Here is the cmd:

cmd /c "C:\bvs\SQLServer2008R2_SP2_Slipstream\Setup.exe /IAcceptSQLServerLicenseTerms /SQLSYSADMINACCOUNTS="BUILTIN\Administrators" /INSTANCEID="MSSQLSERVER" /INSTANCENAME="MSSQLSERVER" /ACTION="Install" /FEATURES=SQLENGINE,REPLICATION,FULLTEXT,SSMS,ADV_SSMS /INDICATEPROGRESS="True" /QUIET="True" /X86="False" /ENU="True" /PCUSOURCE="C:\bvs\SQLServer2008R2_SP2_Slipstream\SP" /ERRORREPORTING="False" /INSTALLSHAREDDIR="C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server" /INSTALLSHAREDWOWDIR="C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server" /INSTANCEDIR="C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server" /SQMREPORTING="False" /ISSVCSTARTUPTYPE="Automatic" /SAPWD="xxx" /AGTSVCACCOUNT="Administrator" /AGTSVCPASSWORD="xxx" /ISSVCACCOUNT="NT AUTHORITY\NetworkService" /SQLSVCACCOUNT="Administrator" /SQLSVCPASSWORD="xxx" /SECURITYMODE="SQL" /SQLSVCSTARTUPTYPE="Automatic" /FILESTREAMLEVEL="0" /TCPENABLED="1" /NPENABLED="0" /BROWSERSVCSTARTUPTYPE="Disabled" /RSSVCSTARTUPTYPE="Automatic" /RSINSTALLMODE="FilesOnlyMode" > "C:\bvs\Install.log" 2>&1"

SQL Server 2005 Database Mail - Mail configuration information could not be read from the database.

I'm trying to setup Database Mail and send a test message, but it's not working.

I've done several step-by-steps and all and I can't get it to work. Also checked several posts in this forum but none helped. I think it used to work before (2 months ago) but we had to turn it off.

I've enabled it in Surface Configuration, have tried recreating all profiles, restarted SQL Agent, checked version mismatch...

I check the Database Mail and I get the following message:

Unattended Deployment of SQL 2008 R2

Hello,

I'm trying to install MS SQL 2008 R2 Express unattended as part of a setup for a new application. I'm from Austria, so our target machines have the default language setting "Deutsch (Österreich)" - "German (Austria)". SQL-Setup failes with the well-known message "SQL Server setup media does not support the language of the OS or does not have ENU localized files. Use the matching language-specific SQL Server media or change the OS locale through Control Panel."

My question: How can I change the OS locale through code (C# / C++ / whatever) during the setup to get it working? Which settings must be changed?

Please help!

How can I check to see if my custom install can install SQL before my custom installer trys to install SQL 2008 or 2012

I have a install for my software that depends on SQL. I want to install SQL 2008 or 2012 express versions if SQL does not exist on the system. However, it is possible and likely that the system has been configured in a way that causes the SQL install to fail. I want to run a pre-install check to make sure SQL has the correct permissions to install before I attempt the install. Is there a way to call the SQL install so that you can get a return of errors without actually installing SQL. Or is there a program I can run as part of my install to check the system will not block the SQL install. My ultimate goal is to problematically set the polices and  permissions of the system, Install SQL and then reset the computer permissions to the way they were before the install.

How do I install a 2005 SQL server on my Windows 8 OS. I can't run the software for my accounting course until I install it. I also need to enable MS .Net framework 3.5 in windows 8 and server 2012.

.NET 4.5 upgrade hangs on SQL Express Advanced 2012 server

Installing the .NET 4.5 Full upgrade on a Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 x64 system with SQL Express Advanced 2012 hangs.  Apparently it tries to do something with the 4.0 Extensions pack installed by SQL.  Repairing .Net 4.0 hangs too.  The .NET 4.5 install log ends suddenly without error.  The last thing in the log is something to do with SQL.  The 4.5 install's Cancel button is grayed out.  Killing the process after 24 hours of inactivity caused further installs to fail because the system thinks an install is still running.  Fortunately this was on a test system so the impact was minimal, but our product installs are going to encounter this environment quite a lot.  How can we resolve this so the .NET 4.5 upgrade runs smoothly?

Sql Server 2012 - Cannot recover the master database

Hi all,

I installed SS2012 Dev a couple of months ago on my dev machine(Win 7) - it worked for a while, but now it won't start and there are two errors in the Event log.

Error 1

Script level upgrade for database 'master' failed because upgrade step 'msdb110_upgrade.sql' encountered error 547, state 0, severity 16. This is a serious error condition which might interfere with regular operation and the database will be taken offline. If the error happened during upgrade of the 'master' database, it will prevent the entire SQL Server instance from starting. Examine the previous errorlog entries for errors, take the appropriate corrective actions and re-start the database so that the script upgrade steps run to completion.

Error 2

Cannot recover the master database. SQL Server is unable to run. Restore master from a full backup, repair it, or rebuild it. For more information about how to rebuild the master database, see SQL

I tried a repair install, but that failed.

My dev machine also has SS2008 Dev on it as well -- which is working. I don't have a master backup as this is a dev machine and there is no critical data involved.

Anyone know where to go from here?

Regards

Melt
